Part V is a group activity, during which you will examine the Life Cycle of Stars.  This should approximately three class periods.

The final outcome of this section will be a poster style display that also includes your chart from section 4.  The poster should include:

  • a large diagram showing the life cycles of Normal and Massive stars
  • exemplar data on each of the star types and/or specific examples of stars of that type
  • explain what has to happen to each star  in order for it to move on to the next star type in the cycle
  • pictures/examples of each star type
  • poster should be visually stimulating, but still easy to read
  • full credit should be given for images and words used from other authors
  • your temperature/luminosity/color chart from section 4
  • evidence of good, co-operative group work

Group roles to be distributed among the team:

Organizer - responsibilities include time keeping, collecting and storing completed work, checking completion of all member tasks
Bibliographer - responsible for proof reading poster information, ensuring that each member has a bibliography, that each picture and quotation are appropriately cited and that there is a final bibliography included with the poster.
Designer - responsible for the layout of the final poster
Researcher - in order to allow the others to successfully complete their tasks the researcher will take on additional stars to research above the number the other members complete (i.e. may do 4 while the others do 2 each).

Each team member is responsible for researching an approximately equal number of the stars in the life cycle and for assisting the designer with the layout of the final poster.
